About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our Legal team in Sydney. Our Legal team helps Stake move quickly with confidence, acting as trusted partners from the earliest stages of decision making. As Senior Legal Counsel, you'll play a key role in shaping how Stake grows by advising on new products, commercial initiatives, and strategic decisions, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Become a trusted adviser to leaders across Product, Engineering, Operations, Customer Success, Marketing, Finance and People.
Shape the legal strategy behind new products and features.
Build simple, scalable legal frameworks.
Partner closely with Compliance and Risk to navigate regulatory change.
Lead complex commercial negotiations and establish contract frameworks.
Improve how legal operates by introducing smarter processes, automation and repeatable ways of working.
Develop the capability of the wider business by making legal concepts accessible.
Help grow a high-performing legal function by mentoring colleagues.

Requirements

Significant post-admission experience from a leading law firm, an in-house legal team, or a combination of both, with strong exposure to financial services.
Commercially minded with the ability to find practical solutions.
Deep knowledge of Australia's financial services regulatory framework, including the Corporations Act, ASIC Act and Privacy Act.
Ability to communicate complex legal issues with clarity and influence.
Comfortable working across multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Ability to take ownership through to outcomes.
Enjoy building trusted relationships and working alongside cross-functional teams.
