About the Role
The Vice President of Human Resources serves as a member of the senior leadership team, responsible for developing and executing HR strategy to support the agency's mission, workforce needs, and regulatory obligations. This role provides executive oversight for talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation, benefits, compliance, and organizational culture within a nonprofit human service environment.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to agency-wide planning, decision-making, and organizational development as a member of the executive leadership team.
- Provide strategic guidance to executive leadership on workforce planning, compensation, retention, and HR risk management.
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with agency mission, operational goals, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead agency-wide recruitment, retention, and workforce planning initiatives.
- Oversee talent acquisition to ensure effective hiring practices.
- Provide executive oversight for employee relations, performance management, and workplace investigations.
- Ensure HR practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Oversee HR compliance systems, including wage and hour practices, leave administration, and background checks.
- Develop and implement agency employment policies and procedures.
- Lead the evaluation of compensation philosophy, pay practices, and benefits strategy.
- Collaborate with Finance on payroll, budgeting, and workforce-related financial planning.
- Oversee performance management systems and leadership development initiatives.
- Promote a mission-driven, inclusive, and engaged workplace culture.
- Monitor HR metrics and provide data-driven analysis to executive leadership.
- Provide leadership, supervision, and direction to the Human Resources department.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of progressive human resources experience.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a busy environment.
- Reliable transportation and a valid NYS driver’s license and insurance.

- Strong knowledge of HR principles, employment law, and compliance.

- Knowledge of employee benefit programs and vendor relationships.
- Working knowledge of ADP or similar HRIS/payroll systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related technology systems.

Salary/Compensations
- $90,000-$115,000
