About the Role
This entry-level IT Support Engineer role on the Service Desk Team provides systems administration support to end users of biometric services. The position initially operates Monday-Friday, with potential for shift work after training. The team manages Access, Event, Incident, Request, and Problem Management.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the planning and development of the overall service.
- Perform system administration tasks as defined by Operating Procedures.
- Routinely monitor the system using provided software and hardware tools.
- Respond appropriately to errors or faults.
- Maintain information regarding programme system activities to reply to enquiries.
- Provide assistance and initial information to callers.
- Identify and resolve common problems.
- Document solutions.
- Adhere to escalation/elevation processes and procedures.
- Perform timely and accurate data input into the call logging system.
- Refer Incidents and Service Requests requiring further help to the appropriate person.
Requirements
- Experience providing system administration to company/mission critical IT systems.
- Ability to contribute to the further development of IT systems.
- Dedication to an ethos of excellent service.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- IT troubleshooting skills to deal with a wide range of processes and systems.
- Ability to understand a problem by breaking it down systematically.
- Commitment to working as a flexible team member.
- Active interest in the development of the Service Desk function.
- Ability to work under pressure to tight timescales.
- Proven ability to prioritize and organize a large workload.
- Ability to work in the required environment.
- Satisfactory security clearance.
- UK Citizenship.
- Minimum 5 years residency in the UK.
