About the Role
CFSB is seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven KYC Quality Control Analyst to join their Compliance team. This role involves reviewing and auditing KYC onboardings and periodic reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulations and procedures. The analyst will play a critical part in safeguarding the platform against financial crime and providing feedback for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Review a defined queue of completed KYC files for new customer onboarding, periodic reviews, and trigger-based refreshes against internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assess each case for completeness, accuracy, and logical consistency, verifying document collection and requirement fulfillment.
- Evaluate the adequacy of the analyst's narrative regarding customer profile, source of funds, source of wealth, and anticipated activity.
- Confirm correct identification and documentation of Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO).
- Validate that customer risk ratings are well-supported by due diligence findings and align with the firm's risk appetite.
- Re-examine screening results (sanctions, PEP, adverse media) to confirm appropriate dispositioning or escalation.
- Identify cases where screening hits were prematurely cleared without sufficient investigation.
- Review negative news and adverse media findings for materiality to the customer's risk profile and sufficiency of the analyst's response.
- Log all QC findings with clear, specific, and actionable commentary, distinguishing between critical errors and minor deficiencies.
- Communicate findings directly to KYC analysts and team leads through written feedback with a corresponding grade.
- Participate in regular feedback sessions or calibration meetings with the KYC Operations team.
- Support the team lead by maintaining metrics and presenting weekly summaries.
- Compile daily and weekly QC scorecards capturing pass/fail rates, defect categories, average review times, and case volumes.
- Assist in preparing monthly QC performance reports for senior compliance leadership.
- Participate in the review and update of KYC procedures, QC checklists, and job aids.
- Assist in developing training content for new and existing KYC analysts based on observed error trends.
- Escalate cases involving unresolved high-risk red flags, incomplete EDD, or potentially suspicious activity.
- Flag systemic or individual analyst issues that may indicate a training need, capacity problem, or potential control failure.
Requirements
- 3+ years in a KYC analyst role within fintech, banking, or financial services, with direct experience in quality control and reviews.
- Strong understanding of CDD and EDD requirements across individuals, sole traders, SMEs, and corporate entities.
- Experience assessing KYC documentation across a variety of entity structures and jurisdictions, including UBO identification.
- Experience conducting or supporting large-scale KYC remediation or refresh campaigns.
- Proficiency with KYC case management systems and screening tools (e.g., World-Check, Dow Jones, LexisNexis, ComplyAdvantage).
- Solid knowledge of applicable AML/KYC regulations (BSA/FinCEN, EU AML Directives, FCA guidance).
