About the Role
Deliver goods in full, on time, and in good condition, taking precautions to avoid damage or delay, while providing efficient and courteous customer service.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and tidy appearance.
- Wear provided staff uniform and name tag.
- Ensure vehicle is mechanically sound and clean.
- Report vehicle problems promptly to Transport Supervisors.
- Report accidents immediately to Transport Supervisors.
- Be familiar with Company procedures in case of an accident.
- Report any Driving License changes immediately and provide a new photocopy to the Transport Manager.
- Do not use the Company vehicle for private use.
- Check all items for delivery before loading and complete appropriate paperwork.
- Load own vehicle.
- Deliver goods according to instructions, noting special customer instructions.
- Drive carefully and considerately.
- Avoid driving in bus lanes, breaking speed limits, blocking restricted junctions, or parking illegally where reasonably avoidable.
- Avoid Parking Tickets.
- Prevent breakages during loading/unloading, unsafe stacking, or due to driving manner; use internal straps to secure products when necessary.
- Keep the company’s mobile phone switched on for messages and observe the Hands-Free Policy.
- Be polite and helpful to customers.
- Communicate customer problems or queries to the Transport Manager immediately and seek instructions.
- Obtain a signed Proof of Delivery from customers.
- Notify the Transport Manager immediately of any frozen returns and take instructions.
- Report to the Transport Manager at the end of the workday.
- Ensure the Tacho Card is downloaded daily.
- Complete a Drivers Sheet with customer details and vehicle mileage.
- Complete a Returned Goods sheet for all returned items and place with goods in the Returns Area.
- Assist in the warehouse as instructed by Transport Supervisors or Transport Manager.
- Be accountable for all Food Safety, Legality, and Hygiene matters in the company, working with the Technical Department.
- Comply with and enforce company policies and procedures to ensure food quality/safety checks and paperwork are completed as per document requirements.
- Adhere to good storage and distribution processes.
- Ensure compliance with Driver’s Hours Regulation and Road Safety Regulation.
- Report immediately to the Transport Manager if legality is breached by any action.
- Notify the Transport Manager immediately of any points endorsed on the license, even if related to offenses in personal vehicles.
Requirements

- Must deliver goods in accordance to the instructions received taking note of any special instructions for particular customers.
- Must drive carefully and with due consideration to other road users.
- Must not drive in bus lanes, break speed limits, block restricted junctions or park illegally where this can be reasonably avoided.
- Must avoid getting a Parking Ticket wherever possible.
- Must avoid breakages either when loading or unloading or unsafe stacking or caused by the manner of your driving.
- Must use internal straps to secure products when necessary.
- Must keep the company’s mobile phone switched on to receive messages and to observe the Company’s Hands-Free Policy.
- Must always be polite and helpful to the customers.
- Must communicate to Transport Manager any problems or queries from customers immediately they are received and to seek instructions.
- Must get a signed Proof of Delivery from the customers on delivery.
- Must notify the Transport Manager immediately of any frozen returns and take instructions.
- Must report in to Transport Manager at the end of your day’s work.
