About the Role

This position is based at Alstom’s Hornell, New York facility, a key center for stainless-steel rail vehicle production. You will work on a state-of-the-art robotic production line, utilizing FANUC robotics and Siemens PLC technologies to manufacture modern rail car bodies. This opportunity offers hands-on involvement in advanced automation and robotic welding projects within a global, innovation-driven industrial environment, contributing to the next generation of rail transportation.

Responsibilities

Support the deployment of advanced robotic systems in industrial operations.
Contribute to the production of rolling stock and components.
Work closely with teams across the business (robotics engineers, process experts, and industrial functions).
Develop and validate offline robot programs.
Ensure optimal cycle times and system reliability.
Simulate and calibrate robotic systems.
Assist during on-site testing and ramp-up phases.
Develop offline programs for robotic cells in current projects.
Transfer layouts and robotic configurations from Process Simulate to Real Time Robotics (RTR).
Calibrate virtual models with real robots.
Simulate and validate robot paths, cycle times, and collision detection.
Adjust programs based on simulation results and shopfloor feedback.
Coordinate with robotics and automation engineers to ensure smooth system integration.
Assist during on-site testing, validation, and ramp-up of robotic systems.
Develop technical documentation and guidelines for offline programming tools.
Capture feedback from production and commissioning to improve future developments.

Requirements

Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (specialization in automation or robotics is a plus).
Familiarity with robotic systems and automation technologies.
Strong knowledge of production processes and industrial practices.
Experience or understanding of manufacturing and robotics (appreciated).
Fluent English communication skills.
Able to foster communication between multiple stakeholders.
Team spirit and adaptability to work in a multicultural environment.
Driver’s license (appreciated).
