About the Role
Springer Nature is launching a new journal, Nature Reviews Computing, in January 2027. This journal will publish high-impact articles covering the full spectrum of computer science and its applications, aiming to stimulate dialogue, bridge disciplines, and highlight translational relevance. The journal will also explore the intersections between computing and society, serving as an accessible and inclusive resource for the future of the field.
Responsibilities
- Commissioning reviews and opinion pieces
- Working closely with authors throughout the writing and revision process
- Providing feedback on synopses
- Developmentally editing first drafts
- Line-by-line editing the final manuscript pre-acceptance
- Developing ideas for figures and other display items
- Organizing and managing peer-review
- Writing Research Highlights and other editorial content
- Liaising extensively with the scientific community through visits with researchers and international conferences
Requirements
- A PhD in any topic relevant to the journal
- Experience in either artificial intelligence research or theoretical computer science is of particular interest
- Outstanding candidates in any area of computer science are welcome
- Broad scientific knowledge
- Ability to absorb new areas of research, and identify new developments and research trends in fields beyond their immediate specialty
- Willingness to travel to meet scientists and learn more about them and their work; and to advertise the journal
- Demonstrable ability to edit text for sense, clarity, factual correctness and language
- Demonstrable writing ability
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
