About the Role

As the Head of Digital Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of engineering through the practical and responsible adoption of AI across the software development lifecycle. You will lead multiple engineering teams, combining strong delivery discipline with innovation to drive engineering excellence and modern ways of working. Partner with senior leaders to influence strategy, uplift engineering capability, and accelerate value delivery through AI-enabled engineering practices. This role is for a forward-thinking leader passionate about developing people, building high-performing teams, and fostering an environment of innovation and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Lead multiple engineering teams, combining strong delivery discipline with innovation.
Drive engineering excellence, modern ways of working, and measurable improvements in productivity, quality, speed, and reliability.
Partner closely with senior leaders across technology and the business to influence strategy.
Uplift engineering capability and accelerate value delivery through AI-enabled engineering practices.
Develop people, build high-performing teams, and create an environment where innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence can flourish.
Establish and scale AI-enabled ways of working with a focus on responsible adoption, governance, and measurable outcomes.
Evaluate, select, and manage technology vendors, delivery partners, and strategic supplier relationships.
Operate effectively in ambiguity, create clarity for teams, and make sound decisions in complex environments.
Balance immediate delivery priorities with broader organizational objectives.

Requirements

Proven experience leading large-scale digital engineering teams within complex enterprise or highly regulated environments.
Demonstrated success driving engineering transformation and delivering measurable improvements in productivity, quality, delivery performance, and customer outcomes.
Strong experience embedding AI-enabled practices, automation, and emerging technologies into software engineering and delivery teams.
A track record of translating technology strategy into tangible business outcomes and sustainable value.
The ability to challenge traditional thinking and influence meaningful change across technology organizations.
Deep understanding of modern software engineering practices, including DevSecOps, cloud technologies, platform engineering, CI/CD, and operational excellence.
Exceptional leadership capability, with experience building, mentoring, and developing high-performing engineering leaders and teams.
Strong commercial acumen and the ability to balance innovation, risk, quality, cost, and long-term platform sustainability.
Proven ability to lead multiple delivery teams while maintaining strong execution discipline and delivery accountability.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility at executive, business, and technical levels.
Strong understanding of cyber security, privacy, risk management, resilience, and compliance considerations.
A naturally curious, innovative, and future-focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and emerging technologies.
