About the Role

The Cybersecurity Advisor ensures project solutions are cyber secure by design, aligning with defined cybersecurity policy, technical roadmap, and customer requirements. This role leads and guides all project cybersecurity activities, ensuring adherence to Hitachi Rail, SRS, and customer cybersecurity requirements. The advisor will define, review, manage, and execute cybersecurity activities such as security management plans, requirements, risk assessments, and vulnerability assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain the cybersecurity process, including defining security activities in the project/product development lifecycle (plans, requirements, design, risk assessment, testing, vulnerability management).
  • Adopt industry standards and methodologies for cybersecurity assessment and project development.
  • Align with, leverage, and contribute to Hitachi Rail SRS Cybersecurity guidelines.
  • Assess bids and bid requirements, incorporating them into project design and cost options.
  • Provide specialty engineering consultation services for projects and products.
  • Conduct risk assessments and technical vulnerability assessments.
  • Interface with the Global Business Unit Ground Transportation Systems for corporate guidance on industry standards.
  • Follow Hitachi Rail group processes and policies.

Requirements

  • More than 5 years of experience in cybersecurity architecture, design, risk assessment, and development.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity processes, standards, and industry best practices related to engineering and software development.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Ability to make public presentations and demonstrations to customers.
  • Excellent writing skills, with experience developing technical documentation and writing papers.
  • Ability to assess team competencies and provide guidance.
  • Working experience with security standards: ISO 27001/2, NIST SP 800 series, IEC 62443.
  • Product development, industrial engineering, and industrial control systems expertise.

Skills

  • Expertise on project and software development lifecycle, gates and process-oriented.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and succinctly with senior management about complex technical matters.
