About the Role

The Senior RAM Specialist will report directly to the RAM Engineering Manager and work with the RAM team in performing RAM activities. This role involves collaborating with other design team members to ensure RAM is integrated into the system design, meeting all contractual RAM requirements. The position also offers guidance and mentorship from senior team members for performing RAM Engineering tasks for CBTC systems, with potential assignment as RAM Lead for a project.

Responsibilities

  • Provides RAM engineering expertise and analysis in the development and implementation of Hitachi Rail CBTC system.
  • Performs RAM design, analyses, modeling and simulation to specify and verify train control systems.
  • Represents RAM in technical meetings involving RAM-related issues.
  • Participates in, influences, and approves design decisions impacting RAM.
  • Analyzes and evaluates hardware designs to verify compliance with contractual Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) requirements.
  • Evaluates and identifies RAM problems and suggests design alternatives to enhance RAM.
  • Prepares Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) Program Plan.
  • Performs Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and/or Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
  • Performs Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability apportionments.
  • Performs Spare Analysis and identify recommended spare parts list.
  • Provides RAM calculated data to support Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis.
  • Performs MTBF calculations based on field returns to support Quality Assurance (FRACAS process) and participates in FRB meetings.
  • Evaluates the Reliability, Availability and Maintainability of designs and design changes for hardware.
  • Provides evaluations & recommendations with respect to Reliability, Availability and Maintainability in formal design reviews and by raising Change Requests (CRs).
  • Performs peer review of key RAM deliverables and artifacts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge in electronic components and circuits.
  • Minimum 5-10 years relevant experience in system architecture for complex systems.
  • Minimum 5-10 years relevant experience in application of RAMS concepts & analyses techniques.
  • Good command of the English language, both written and oral.
  • Computer skills, MS Office.
  • DOORS; ClearQuest, SAP are assets.
