About the Role

Women's College Hospital is seeking a dedicated professional to join our surgical services team. This role focuses on providing essential support to Operating Room staff and physicians, ensuring a safe, efficient, and patient-centered environment. You will play a critical role in surgical preparation, inventory management, and maintaining high standards of infection control to support our mission of revolutionizing healthcare.

Responsibilities

Assist and take direction from Operating Room staff and physicians with patient surgical preparation.
Anticipate team needs before, during, and after diagnostic, treatment, and therapeutic procedures.
Escort patients within Perioperative Services areas.
Collaborate with Medical Secretaries, RNs, and physicians to optimize patient flow.
Prepare and turn over procedure and operating rooms, including equipment, instrumentation, and supplies.
Follow PIDAC standard infection control guidelines.
Transport instrumentation to the soiled utility room and organize for MDRC.
Relay patient concerns to healthcare providers.
Order, receive, and stock medical/surgical supplies and linens.
Support inventory management and monitor expiry dates.
Prepare and replenish hospital requisitions.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of procedure rooms, utility rooms, carts, and workstations.
Prepare and organize specimens for pick-up.
Perform end-of-day functions to prepare for next-day activities.
Work in all areas of Surgical Services Clinics as required.

Requirements

Must reside and be legally eligible to work in Ontario.
Medical Device Reprocessing Certificate (theory and practicum).
BCLS or Heart Saver certificate (or completion within 3 months of hire).
Ability to meet physical demands including frequent walking, standing, reaching, bending, and pushing up to 40 pounds.
Demonstrated record of good performance and acceptable attendance.
Verification of credentials, health review, and proof of immunity/vaccination status required prior to employment.
