About the Role

The Base Labs Fellowship is designed to give researchers exposure to frontier research in an industry setting. Fellows receive funding, mentorship, and full support to produce rigorous, published research that shapes the open-source ecosystem and Baseten's technical roadmap.

Responsibilities

• Conduct 3 months of full-time research from our San Francisco office
• Engage in dedicated 1:1 mentorship with a senior researcher
• Publish and present research at top venues, including ICML, NeurIPS, and Grace Hopper
• Contribute to shaping Baseten's technical roadmap and product decisions
• Help build a research culture from the ground up

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a PhD in ML, AI, statistics, or a closely related field
• Possess a publication record or research portfolio demonstrating original, rigorous thinking
• Demonstrate a commitment to understanding the impact and importance of your work
• Thrive with autonomy and without a predefined roadmap
• Be excited to be fully embedded in the San Francisco team for the program duration
• Be drawn to the idea of building a research culture
