About the Role
The Building Manager is responsible for ensuring guests and employees comply with SFSU and AS policies and regulations, including safety procedures. This role involves making routine checks, reporting malfunctions, preparing logs and reports, and securing facilities. The Building Manager will also contact appropriate personnel in emergencies, assist with and monitor special events, and be responsible for opening and closing the building.
Responsibilities
- Ensure guests and employees comply with SFSU and AS policies and regulations, including safety procedures.
- Make routine checks and report malfunctions with the facility and equipment.
- Prepare accident, incident, safety, and work request reports.
- Prepare a daily log of incidents and activities.
- Open, lock, and secure meeting rooms and other scheduled facilities.
- Contact appropriate SFSU and/or AS personnel in case of an emergency.
- Assist in all SFSU and AS special events hosted within the Student Center.
- Monitor special events to ensure proper use of equipment and facility.
- Responsible for closing and opening the building.
Requirements
- Must be a currently enrolled SFSU student with a minimum of 6 units for undergraduates or 4 units for graduates.
- Prior work experience requiring supervisory skills is highly recommended.
- First Aid, CPR, AED, and ADA familiarity and experience are highly recommended.
- Background in professional and/or student special events and activities is desirable.
- Must have the ability to supervise and direct student peers.
- Work independently under minimum supervision and be able to interpret and carry out SFSU and AS policies.
- Ability to participate in group meetings, and clearly express ideas and suggestions.
- Maintain cooperative and working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
- Dependability and willingness to assume and carry out responsibilities.
- Must be available during summer and winter semesters.
- Must be available evenings and weekend shifts.
- Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.
