About the Role

The LaBelle and Tirrell research group at the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering is seeking a Research Specialist to support the operational and research needs of a complex project focused on immune modulation and intracellular drug delivery. The role involves performing laboratory procedures, managing day-to-day lab operations, and contributing to a collaborative research environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform investigative procedures and operate scientific equipment such as plate readers, microscopes, PCR machines, and flow cytometers.
• Collaborate with internal and external students, scientists, researchers, and engineering teams.
• Contribute ideas for new experiments and research grant proposals.
• Develop, design, and conduct research projects according to plan.
• Manage research-related duties and tasks with moderate supervision.
• Document research efforts and software for sharing with the PI and lab members.
• Disseminate research results in high-impact journals and conferences.
• Conduct periodic training for current or new research group members.
• Identify and troubleshoot abnormal results or technical problems.
• Ensure project compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies.
• Analyze and maintain data and specimens.
• Conduct literature reviews and assist with report and manuscript preparation.
• Maintain recruitment and scheduling for research subjects.
• Assist with developing study protocols, data collection tools, and databases.
• Provide general administrative support.

Requirements

• College or university degree in a related field.
• Less than 2 years of work experience in a related discipline.
• General awareness of research techniques, regulatory policies, and relevant scientific fields.
• Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with others.
• Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend scientific and technical literature.
