About the Role
As an Intermediate Accountant at Relay, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations that ensure audit readiness, month-end accuracy, and increased automation. You will transform transactional work into a foundation for smarter financial decision-making, contributing to a finance function that is fast, clean, and scalable.
Responsibilities
- Own and automate the AP cycle, identifying manual touchpoints and driving automation implementation.
- Support month-end close by ensuring accurate and timely records, including bank reconciliations, adjusting journals, accruals, and variance analysis.
- Help build and enforce company-wide spend policy and manage the corporate credit card program.
- Prepare supporting schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for year-end audit preparation.
- Contribute to building and strengthening internal controls, documenting processes, and identifying gaps.
- Work with stakeholders across the business to understand vendor ownership, flag budget concerns, and ensure smooth finance processes.
- Think critically about processes and actively seek ways to improve them using AI and automation tools.
- Ensure all financial entries and reconciliations meet US GAAP standards and are audit-ready.
- Participate in special projects, process improvements, and one-off analyses as needed.
Requirements
- 1.5+ years of accounting experience in a professional setting.
- CPA or actively pursuing CPA designation.
- Comfortable with AP and month-end workflows.
- AI-forward mindset and eagerness to learn automation.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills.
- Experience in a tech environment is a plus.
- Familiarity with US GAAP is an asset.
- Experience with Rillet accounting ERP is mentioned.
