About the Role
As a Senior Frontend Engineer on the Design Systems team, you will build and care for the components and foundations that everything else at Mercury is built on. This role is crucial for enabling product teams to build better experiences faster and is at the forefront of integrating AI into design systems.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain components, patterns, and foundations (tokens, type, color, layout) with a high bar for accessibility, performance, and craft.
- Lead projects to ship new UI patterns that solve pain points for product teams.
- Develop a design system ready for AI, applying technology for leveraged outcomes.
- Invest in the design system's prototyping experience to shape future iterations.
- Raise the craft and AI fluency of colleagues through mentorship and best practices.
Requirements
- 4+ years of frontend development experience.
- Deep experience in React, TypeScript, and modern web technologies.
- Experience building or maintaining a design system or shared component library.
- Thorough command of modern frontend tooling: build systems, CI/CD, and testing.
- High agency and comfort creating clarity in ambiguous spaces.
- First-principles systems thinking oriented to outcomes.
- Strong product taste and an instinct for leverage.
- Hands-on fluency at the intersection of AI and software development.
