About the Role
The role is responsible for maintaining automation and control systems by defining standards post-implementation and handover. You will lead the Maintenance Automation team to ensure project success and drive the corporate automation strategy.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the execution of the Maintenance department's long-term plan
- Develop and implement corporate automation strategy aligned with business objectives
- Define and enforce automation standards across all sites including PLCs, SCADA, HMI, and networks
- Ensure consistency, scalability, and best practices across facilities
- Lead initiatives related to Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing, and digitalization
- Manage performance, onboarding, and development of staff
- Oversee talent acquisition and succession planning
- Ensure completion of function compliance training
- Foster an engaged workforce through sound working relationships and action plans
- Model and hold teams accountable to company values
- Provide technical support to IT during equipment installation and troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot process line issues and delegate tasks
- Support equipment commissioning and start-up activities
- Coordinate security and maintenance for manufacturing systems data and change control
- Lead continuous improvement, innovation, and cost optimization efforts
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, uptime, and productivity
- Promote advanced analytics, data integration, and predictive maintenance
- Evaluate and implement new technologies such as AI, IIoT, robotics, and AGVs
- Develop and manage the corporate automation budget
- Optimize capital investments and operational costs
- Support ROI analysis and business case development
- Ensure compliance with all governing laws, practices, codes, and regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in industrial automation or control systems
- 5+ years in a leadership role, preferably in a multi-site or corporate function
- Proven experience implementing automation strategies across multiple facilities
- Strong project management and transformation experience
- Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, ladder logic, and control diagrams
- Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical and automation issues
- Familiarity with robotics including Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, and Yaskawa
- Experience with CMMS and SAP systems for work order management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Strong diagnostic and decision-making capabilities
- Basic understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics
- Prior working experience in a manufacturing environment
- High level of personal and ethical responsibility
- Proficiency in MS Office
