About the Role

Seeking an Associate Architectural Conservator to support restoration and preservation projects on architecturally significant and landmarked buildings, collaborating with the Architectural Division.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys and existing conditions assessments
  • Prepare measured drawings using applicable drafting software
  • Assist in the preparation of specifications and product research
  • Perform archival research and documentation
  • Participate in Construction Administration activities, including site visits, submittal reviews, and sample reviews
  • Coordinate with Architectural Division on renovation, new construction, and adaptive-use projects
  • Self-check work for completeness, accuracy, and quality

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an architectural firm setting or comparable contracting experience
  • Experience with building condition assessment, field documentation, and measured drawing/detail production
  • Working understanding of building material properties, traditional construction assemblies, failure modes, and intervention/remedial repair options
  • Proactive approach to problem solving & teamwork in a collegial work environment
  • Comfortable working at elevated locations, including scaffolding, ladders, and tall structures
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and teamwork in a collaborative studio environment
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
  • Precise and personable verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to commute to NYC office five days per week
