About the Role
Seeking an Associate Architectural Conservator to support restoration and preservation projects on architecturally significant and landmarked buildings, collaborating with the Architectural Division.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys and existing conditions assessments
- Prepare measured drawings using applicable drafting software
- Assist in the preparation of specifications and product research
- Perform archival research and documentation
- Participate in Construction Administration activities, including site visits, submittal reviews, and sample reviews
- Coordinate with Architectural Division on renovation, new construction, and adaptive-use projects
- Self-check work for completeness, accuracy, and quality
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an architectural firm setting or comparable contracting experience
- Experience with building condition assessment, field documentation, and measured drawing/detail production
- Working understanding of building material properties, traditional construction assemblies, failure modes, and intervention/remedial repair options
- Proactive approach to problem solving & teamwork in a collegial work environment
- Comfortable working at elevated locations, including scaffolding, ladders, and tall structures
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and teamwork in a collaborative studio environment
- Willingness to travel occasionally
- Precise and personable verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to commute to NYC office five days per week
