About the Role

Dream Machine FX is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Assistant Manager, Accounting and Reporting to join our Finance team. In this role, you will oversee general ledger activities, ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting, manage month- and year-end close processes, prepare weekly cashflow reports and support audit and compliance requirements across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Review cost of sales calculations, validate supporting data, and ensure accurate and timely posting to the general ledger.
  • Monitor overhead allocations, maintain general ledger integrity, and oversee account reconciliations and internal controls.
  • Prepare and review lease accounting schedules in accordance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., ASC 842 / IFRS 16), including right-of-use assets and lease liabilities.
  • Perform and review intercompany reconciliations, resolve variances, and ensure timely settlement and appropriate eliminations.
  • Lead month-end close activities, review balance sheet reconciliations, and support year-end financial reporting, audit schedules, and related documentation.
  • Prepare weekly cash forecasts and align with operational managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Working toward a CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting certification.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong exposure to complex financial reporting and general ledger management.
  • Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation for external audits.
  • Solid understanding of lease accounting standards (ASC 842 / IFRS 16) and intercompany accounting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict reporting deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and support junior team members where required.
  • Comfortable working in a fast pace environment.
  • Previous experience working in the entertainment, production or VFX industry would be an asset.
  • Previous experience with Netsuite would be an asset.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and possess a valid work permit if applicable.
