About the Role

The Head Teacher is responsible for planning and executing a program that addresses the educational, social development, and health needs of children, while actively supervising classroom staff and participating in age-appropriate activities.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute a program considering educational, social development, and health needs of children.
- Actively supervise Associate Teacher, Assistant Teacher, Aides, and Substitute Teacher.
- Physically lift and carry children and participate in age-appropriate activities.
- Develop a program of developmentally appropriate practices.
- Uphold Harbor's philosophy and policies regarding health & safety, nutrition, and regulations.
- Actively implement age-appropriate The Creative Curriculum.
- Respect the confidential nature of information about parents, children, and staff.
- Support and participate in active outdoor time.
- Plan with classroom staff and keep them informed about meetings, events, and training.
- Report difficulties concerning classroom staff supervision to the Assistant Director/Director.
- Supervise children or designate qualified personnel in absence, informing Assistant Teacher/Director.
- Support and actively participate in active work time.
- Collaborate with Assistant Director/Director regarding children with special needs.
- Foster positive parent relationships through respectful communication and daily notes.
- Use Contact Notes for staff and parent concerns.
- Attend and participate in parent/teacher meetings.
- Discuss professional performance objectively during supervisor conferences.
- Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and workshops.
- Attend weekly planning meetings with the Education Director or Program Director.
Requirements
- Must have experience working with infants ages 18 months to 36 months.
- Must have availability between 7am and 6pm.
- 1-2 years of experience preferred.
