About the Role

Responsible for maximizing the sales of supplier brands to the trade through effective territory planning, selling, merchandising and communication that enables the achievement of company and supplier objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Strategize and preplan sales and merchandising objectives by understanding pricing and product programming information.
  • Maintain accurate historical account purchase information.
  • Call on accounts and cover daily routes with an efficient routing pattern.
  • Analyze account base by visiting each account and identifying opportunities.
  • Complete necessary surveys and ensure national account compliance.
  • Prepare and deliver professional sales presentations to customers.
  • Balance company priorities and customer needs in sales presentations.
  • Sell display ideas, new products, cold box, shelf, well and back bar placements and resets, drink and wine lists, and promotions.
  • Understand and work with management on inventory levels.
  • Be aware of current inventory and out-of-stock situations.
  • Alert management to possible fluctuations in demand.
  • Achieve distribution, volume, and activity goals for supplier brands.
  • Ensure maximum brand visibility within accounts by maintaining account standards.
  • Use effective and current point of sale materials.
  • Maintain product levels in accounts by taking inventory and restocking shelves (where legally permissible).
  • Obtain payments for the company by collecting and delivering checks or other remittance (where legally permissible).
  • Educate account staff on priority brands by administering educational staff training seminars.
  • Support account openings by developing opening orders for new accounts.
  • Manage customer account receivables by timely processing of credits and returns.
  • Communicate with accounts on aged receivables.
  • Service accounts by delivering products in extenuating circumstances.
  • Handle customer issues and complaints and refer them to management as appropriate.
  • Maintain professional relationships with suppliers by participating in work with sales calls and sales blitzes.
  • Remain informed of company/supplier activities and updates by attending weekly sales meetings.
  • Complete all necessary training programs, including attending, participating, and passing required tests.
  • Maintain professional and industry knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, and establishing personal networks.
  • Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to hold a Solicitor’s Permit required.
  • A minimum of two years in sales or industry-related experience required.
  • Must be a results-oriented professional with excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Must possess diplomacy and discretion.
  • Must have strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team.
  • Must pay attention to detail and meet deadlines.
  • Associate is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Associate frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and climb or balance.
  • Associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to share workspace.
  • Ability to travel by car or train.
  • Ability to dress in proper business attire.
  • Ability to attend evening meetings.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Salary/Compensations

  • Commission-based structure with a weekly draw paid against commissions per week.
  • Eligible for sales incentives and contests.
  • Additional General Expense paid weekly.
  • Territory generates approximately $61,000- $65,000 in annual commissions.
