About the Role
The Western Properties (WP) Business Manager, under the direction of the Resident Controller, is responsible for payroll maintenance and monthly accounting duties for Hearst Corporation’s extensive California real estate and land holdings. This hybrid role involves dual functions within payroll and accounting.
Responsibilities
- Provides competitive salary analysis for management employees upon request by VP & GM.
- Manages employee setup and termination processes.
- Processes salary increases.
- Prepares annual staff and management (MBO) bonuses for review and approval.
- Allocates Wyntoon Estate tips to employees and enters them into PR/ADP for tax withholding.
- Processes bi-weekly payroll, entering hours worked and employee PTO, and submitting "SSL" forms for additional payments.
- Prepares the annual payroll budget for the Resident Controller.
- Maintains and verifies PTO balances.
- Handles Year-End & Other Miscellaneous P/R Reporting, including 1095 Info, Total Healthcare costs for W-2s, Vehicle Fringe Info, and PCori Info Reporting.
- Works closely with WP’s Vice President & General Manager on hiring and retention of management employees.
- Sends out offer letters for management and staff positions.
- Maintains the WP Employee Handbook and updates employment policies.
- Maintains Personnel Files.
- Works with the management team and Human Resources to address employee problem resolution.
- Manages Health Insurance setup and termination for employees and their dependents.
- Tracks monthly health claims from Cigna segregated by employee name/department.
- Allocates monthly Cigna & VSP premiums and claims to each business unit.
- Prepares annual analysis of monthly claims by business unit for budget process.
- Provides COBRA information to terminated employees.
- Processes benefit invoices for union employees.
- Advises employees on benefits questions.
- Performs monthly closing of WCR, 5M Project, 45 Third St and Wyntoon Estate with corporate reporting.
- Performs monthly account reconciliations through Oracle ARCS for WCR, 5M, 45 Third St. and other assigned WP business entities.
- Handles other miscellaneous monthly accounting tasks, including Cap Ex and A/R Aging.
- Prepares Quarterly Corporate Variance Reports.
- Prepares annual operating budget worksheets.
- Handles Annual Year-End forms and Tax Schedules.
