About the Role

ASM Global, The Moscone Center in San Francisco is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to assist in maintaining and improving operating equipment, ensuring a smooth working environment between clients and in-house departments.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all heating and ventilating equipment, engines, turbines, motors, combustion engines, pumps, air compressors, ice and refrigerating machines, air conditioning units, fans, siphons, and automatic and power-oiling pumps and engines.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair boilers, heaters, pumps, valves, and appurtenances used in steam and heated/processed water distribution.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair pumps handling brines or other secondary refrigerating liquids, including associated valves, appurtenances, and lines.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair air compressors, distribution lines, and devices for air control.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair natural and manufactured gas distribution lines, including control devices.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair water filters, softeners, piping, and pumps used in water distribution, including sinks, toilet bowls, supply lines, drains, water lines, control devices, and sprinkler systems.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair all types of electrical motors and engines used to power pumps, compressors, and fans.
  • Maintain elevators, man lifts, escalators, and hoist ways, unless serviced by specialized contractors.
  • Perform all electrical work and repair.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair all fuel oil systems, including pumps, valves, lines, and controls.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair building automation systems for HVAC, including consoles, data gathering panels, remote sensors, and indicating devices.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair all mail conveyor systems, excluding tenant-owned systems.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair sanitary sewer systems, sump pumps, basins, water closets, urinals, and piping.
  • Maintain and repair trash compactors, including electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Maintain and repair all kitchen equipment, excluding tenant-owned equipment.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair all types of locks, keys, and perform locksmith duties.
  • Perform maintenance, repair, and installation of carpentry work.
  • Operate, repair, and maintain energy systems, life safety systems, environmental controls, safe locks, telecommunications, and other computerized emergency systems, as permitted by regulations and contracts.
  • Perform any other work customarily performed by maintenance engineers.

Requirements

  • Ability to listen and follow instructions.
  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship program.
  • Minimum five years of experience in the operation of a large public assembly, hotel, hospital, or other commercial facility.
  • Member in good standing of Stationary Engineers Local 39.
  • Ability to problem solve, plan, and be well-organized.
  • Able to read blueprints and construction specifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with all kinds of people and get along with co-workers, customers, and vendors.
  • Works well as a team player.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
  • Requires a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
  • Subject to call 24 hours in case of emergency.
