About the Role
As our Equity Research Analyst - Semiconductors, you will own the coverage of the hardware backbone of the AI buildout, contributing original theses to a concentrated, high-conviction portfolio. You will report to the Portfolio Manager and Director of Research and work autonomously from Day 1.
Responsibilities
- Run bottom-up fundamental research on semiconductor companies worldwide, including chipmakers, equipment, materials, memory, and related hardware.
- Own news and data monitoring across your sectors, surfacing and defending alpha opportunities before consensus.
- Decompose business models and build financial models tailored to each sub-sector's economics.
- Integrate alternative data, AI, and quantitative capabilities into research to validate signals and their impact on the P&L.
- Cultivate relationships with sector experts and management teams to convert conviction into sized positions.
Requirements
- Understand the semiconductor industry at both a technical and business level.
- Have 2+ years of experience researching investments in the semiconductors sector (buy-side, equity research, private equity, or investment banking).
- Possess a track record of differentiated investment writing, including a contrarian view that was sized and defended.
- Be comfortable with alternative datasets and basic data tools (Python or SQL).
- Hold a strong academic record in a technical field such as Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics.
- Prefer not to work at a steady, deliberate pace; comfortable moving fast with daily idea flow and quick view formation/revision.
- Prefer not to wait for full consensus before acting; comfortable sizing positions on conviction and insight.
