About the Role

The Trade Operations IT Delivery Team provides comprehensive IT custom development and support for EDFT Operational teams, managing core front office Trade Capture Processes and Trade Booking systems. This role is key to the ETRM process, requiring a blend of commodity trading business context understanding and solid IT software engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support custom-built, multi-asset class applications and tools using primarily a Microsoft toolset.
• Perform analysis and testing, supported by Senior Developers and Business Analysts.
• Contribute to improving EDF Trading development processes and evolving the architectural road map.
• Ensure robustness and supportability of solutions designed to last many years.
• Enhance existing applications and write new ones with Angular front end and C# .Net backend.
• Use technology appropriately and flexibly, considering company strategy and recommendations.
• Adhere to company standards and best practices, including documentation, testing, and peer reviews.
• Maintain development infrastructure, including source code repository and continuous build/deployment facilities.
• Seek opportunities to deliver business value via innovation and staying up-to-speed with technology trends.
• Engage with the business or business analysts to define requirements and form solutions.
• Provide technical advice to business users, identifying appropriate tools/processes.
• Work with other Senior developers and IT delivery Operation members to progress EDFT IT technology stack and development processes.
• Keep abreast of industry technological developments, particularly in UI, and identify opportunities for new frameworks, technologies, and tools.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in design and implementation of bespoke software solutions.
• Previous experience in a development role working closely with both IT and business customers.
• Experience in the design and construction of software/application solutions.
• Understanding of software development patterns and their common applications.
• Ability to work with business and technical stakeholders to deliver suitable solutions.
• Knowledge of application development methodologies to create business-focused software solutions.
• Excellent interpersonal skills in teamwork and facilitation.
• Experience working under pressure with traders and demanding front office users.
• Excellent analytical and technical skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into clear solution design requirements.
• Capacity to understand business processes quickly.
• Ability to communicate complex subjects at different levels.
• Hands-on approach, flexibility, and a positive outlook.
• Attention to detail and strong focus on accuracy.
• Ability to multitask, switch focus, and prioritize tasks under pressure.
• Strong academic background, educated to degree level and/or equivalent professional qualification or relevant business experience.
• Flexibility to meet project deadlines outside of standard hours.
