About the Role
The Trade Operations IT Delivery Team designs, develops, and supports custom-built, multi-asset class applications and tools using primarily a Microsoft toolset. The team is seeking a Junior Developer to enhance and fix existing applications and write new ones with an Angular front end and C# .Net backend.
Responsibilities
- Use technology appropriately and flexibly, considering company strategy and recommendations.
- Adhere to company standards and best practices, including documentation, testing, and peer reviews.
- Ensure maintenance of the development infrastructure, including source code repository and continuous build/deployment facilities.
- Seek opportunities to deliver business value via innovation by staying up-to-date with technology trends.
- Engage with the business or business analysts to define requirements and form solutions.
- Work with Senior developers and wider team members to contribute to EDFT IT technology stack and development processes.
- Keep abreast of industry technological developments and identify opportunities to implement new frameworks, technologies, and tools.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in design and implementation of bespoke software solutions.
- Previous experience in a development role working closely with both IT and business customers.
- Experience in coding, testing, debugging, and documenting applications.
- Basic understanding or keenness to learn front end applications development using Angular.
- Experience with deploying changes all the way to production.
- Experience in assisting with the analysis, planning, and design of new applications and enhancements to existing ones.
- Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork and facilitation.
- Excellent analytical and technical skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to translate business needs into clear and comprehensive solution design requirements.
- Capacity to understand business processes quickly.
- Ability to communicate complex subjects at different levels.
- Strong academic background, educated to degree level and/or equivalent professional qualification or relevant business experience.
- Hands-on approach, flexible with a positive outlook.
- Attention to detail and strong focus on accuracy of information.
- Able to multitask, switch focus, and prioritize own tasks under pressure.
- A passionate and versatile technologist with a strong interest in energy commodity trading.
