About the Role
The Operations Supervisor will provide a high level of leadership to ensure customer, team member, and vendor satisfaction by leading a culture of continuous improvement to achieve plant goals in their assigned area. This role is responsible for training, developing, and coaching employees to meet goals and objectives in support of HP Hood’s operations and the manufacturing of dairy and non-dairy related beverages.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership necessary for achieving plant and corporate goals in Production, Safety, Quality, Employee Relations, Performance, and Cost for their assigned shift.
- Ensure successful attainment of production objectives, execution of policies, and effective utilization of available resources on their assigned shift.
- Support employees by coaching, mentoring, and assisting in resolving mechanical malfunctions to increase productivity, job capabilities, and equipment capabilities.
- Lead a culture of continuous improvement while balancing quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results.
- Enforce GMP’s and ensure strict adherence to Corporate and/or Plant Policies, rules, and regulations, administering coaching and corrective action as necessary.
- Validate proper training and development of employees and ensure compliance with all SOP’s on their assigned shift.
- Ensure compliance with all legal requirements concerning dairy processing, safety, and working conditions on their assigned shift.
- Report food safety problems and initiate action, supporting SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality through managing job tasks and ensuring work areas are sanitary and biosecurity measures are administered.
- Establish and maintain a positive work environment, including maintaining the open door program and resolving workplace concerns.
- Ensure effective communication between shifts and other departments.
- Interview and hire for assigned areas of responsibility, providing employee coaching, corrective action, development plans, and resolving employee issues.
- Manage employee scheduling on their assigned shift to meet budgeted and forecasted objectives.
- Ensure Safety Compliance and Accident Investigations are conducted and retraining is issued in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Ability to apply basic to complex mathematical concepts.
- Ability to understand and respond appropriately to basic to complex employee, vendor, and customer inquiries.
- Read, write, and communicate using English sufficient to perform job functions.
- Knowledge of company's mission, purpose, goals and your role in achieving them.
- Ability to operate facility equipment as required in assigned area.
- Satisfactorily complete all company training requirements.
- Ability to interpret company documents and literature and UPC/code information.
- Report to work at scheduled times and communicate tardiness and absences prior to the occurrence.
- Report to work in a condition to work.
- Be well-groomed and dressed in business- and position-appropriate attire, including compliance with GMP dress code standards.
- Comply with performance criteria, standards of conduct, employment procedures, and responsibilities as described in the company handbook.
- Maintain a safe work environment at all times and immediately report and take appropriate action to correct a safety concern.
- Complete all assigned tasks and responsibilities.
- Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility, including office, production, and warehouse environments, and the outside perimeter of the building.
- Able to wear all necessary personal protective equipment.
- Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift with meal break.
- Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle and move items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and move objects exceeding 50 pounds with reasonable accommodations.
- Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions.
