About the Role
The Safety Monitor / Residential Aide coordinates and ensures the overall safety and security of the facility, monitoring resident movement, conduct, and behavior. This role also manages access control, conducts bed counts, and assists with food, supplies, and mail distribution.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the safety and security of all residents, visitors, staff, and property.
- Provides support services to residents.
- Screens all residents, staff, and visitors, documenting entries and exits.
- Ensures security personnel conduct bag searches and body wand searches.
- Provides limited crisis intervention and de-escalation to residents.
- Coordinates with social service staff for case management and follow-up.
- Contacts supervisor and/or proper authorities as needed.
- Conducts weekly unit/dorm inspections with social service staff.
- Reviews video cameras and monitors common areas.
- Enforces facility safety standards, including proper wearing of PPE, vests, and ID badges.
- Maintains accurate documentation, including turn-over, census, logs, incident reports, and case notes.
- Coordinates with Building Maintenance to address repair needs and hazards.
- Facilitates and documents evacuation procedures.
- Conducts initial intake for new residents, gathering demographics and needs.
- Reviews program rules and regulations with new residents.
- Enforces the rule of 2 bags per person.
- Conducts periodic resident wellness checks and daily bed counts.
- Conducts heightened resident wellness checks for special needs residents.
- Enforces and educates residents on house rules, CHI, and DSS policies.
- Refers non-compliant residents to social service staff.
- Performs administrative and reception duties at the front desk when needed.
- Ensures units are cleaned and ready for new placements.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, nights, weekends, and overtime if necessary.
- Ability to prioritize, make appropriate decisions and judgment calls, and perform proper notifications.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects (up to 50lbs).
- Ability to tour property, walk distances, and climb stairs (up to 3-4 flights).
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in English required.
- Multi-lingual and Spanish proficiency prioritized.

Experience Level
- 1-2 years of experience working in related field preferred.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- First Aid/CPR Certification required or to be obtained within 30 days.
- Food Handler’s Certification required or to be obtained within 30 days.
- F-02 certification required or to be obtained within 30 days.
Salary/Compensations
- $21.64 - $45,000.00 Hourly
- $21.64 an hour- approx. $45,000 annually.
