About the Role

Diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders, whether cognitive, affective or behavioral in an inpatient setting.

Responsibilities

  • Apply psychotherapeutic techniques and interventions in the delivery of services to individuals and families for the purpose of treating diagnosed emotional and mental disorders.
  • Conduct individual, group or family therapy as appropriate for the treatment plan.
  • Conduct a psychosocial assessment and develop an initial discharge plan.
  • Provide initial treatment planning for patients based on assessment and coordinate any additional services needed.
  • Maintain documentation of therapy services provided to each patient according to facility and professional standards.
  • Maintain an assigned caseload.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and collaborate with other staff to facilitate services for the patient.
  • Provide case management, discharge planning or after-care planning according to treatment plan.
  • Assist in educating and training staff on behavior management or therapeutic crisis intervention.
  • Coordinate various clinical, psychosocial or educational activities with patients and their families.
  • Evaluate patient's need and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed.
  • Assist in the training of new clinical staff and interns.
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers.
  • Acknowledge and work to resolve complaints when patient needs are not met.
  • Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • State or national licensure for professional therapy providers required.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.
