About the Role
The Designated Selling Associate (DSA) Salesperson is passionate about fashion, enjoys one-on-one customer interaction, and thrives in a sales environment. DSAs drive sales volume for Nordstrom by championing the brand, excelling in customer service, product knowledge, merchandising, and selling. They build relationships with customers, educate peers on trends, and provide product feedback.
Responsibilities
- Set and achieve sales goals for in-store and digital selling using selling tools, including text and social media, and reservations.
- Build lasting relationships with customers.
- Provide excellent customer service, potentially working in other departments or brands as needed.
- Offer honest feedback to customers on style, fit, and value.
- Seek fashion and product knowledge through meetings and trainings.
- Build relationships with other DSAs, Stylists, and departments by conducting product knowledge meetings.
- Provide valid product feedback to DM to improve store assortment.
- Drive business through appointment-based selling.
- Keep the department customer-ready, including stocking, re-merchandising, display, price markdowns, merchandise transfers, and cleaning.
- Grow sales by opening new Nordstrom Rewards program accounts.
Requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport and cultivate customer relationships.
- Ability to excel in a competitive team environment.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
- Ability to read sales reporting in relation to goals.
- Understand how to educate customers on new and emerging brands, suggesting based on their needs.
- Confidence with high/low price points and ability to showcase item value.
- Strong understanding of customer's holistic wardrobe and style.
- High degree of organization for strategic follow-up and advice.
- Continuous movement for 6-8 hours per shift, including bending, twisting, squatting, flexing, and reaching.
- Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
- Handle bulky and sometimes awkwardly shaped items, including reaching for and lifting above the head.
- Regularly lift items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
- Consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with legal requirements per Los Angeles, Cal. Muni. Code 189.04 and the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
