About the Role

This role will lead our agenda around the role of welfare in supporting the working-age population to maintain good health and assist individuals with long-term health conditions or disabilities when they are unable to work. The purpose is to advocate for change and propose solutions to issues identified with current welfare support systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the welfare agenda concerning health and working-age populations.
  • Identify opportunities to shape better policy by providing decision-makers with evidence and recommendations.
  • Conduct analysis related to welfare and health.
  • Commission policy research projects from internal and external experts.
  • Provide oversight for commissioned policy research projects.
  • Develop a personal profile as an expert in the field.
  • Lead or support the drafting of external outputs.
  • Speak at external events.
  • Grow and maintain external stakeholder relationships.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of the current welfare agenda, particularly concerning people with long-term health conditions and disability.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to shape better policy.
  • Ability to provide decision makers with evidence and clear recommendations.
  • Experience in conducting analysis.
  • Experience in commissioning policy research projects.
  • Experience in providing oversight for research projects.
  • Ability to develop a profile as an expert.
