About the Role
PGIM Real Estate is seeking a Senior Underwriter for its Agency Lending business. This role is critical in managing loan transactions from screening to approval, involving thorough due diligence and credit analysis. The position also includes mentoring junior team members and contributing to the strategic direction of the underwriting function, requiring collaboration with clients, Agency partners, and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the collection and approval of due diligence materials.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and on credit/underwriting issues with the Agency.
- Train team members.
- Complete review, analysis, and approval of due diligence materials for loan submissions.
- Review and provide commentary on third-party reports.
- Finalize underwriting narratives and models, or direct underwriting staff.
- Ensure ongoing communication on all aspects of the loan process with key stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits independently.
- Collaborate across the Underwriting team on portfolios or larger underwriting efforts.
- Proactively collaborate with Agency partners throughout the transaction.
- Present to Investment/Loan Committee when necessary.
- Research and analyze market/submarket trends and fundamentals.
- Manage and mentor team analysts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and 8 or more years of experience in commercial underwriting.
- Ability to take ownership for loan transactions and manage workload with minimal supervision.
- Thorough product knowledge of Agency financing (specifically Fannie Mae and/or Freddie Mac experience) and general multifamily financing alternatives.
- Proficient in analysis of Mortgage Credit and Borrower structures.
- Experience mentoring and training junior team members.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proven management capability.
- Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills.
