About the Role

Convene, a global industry leader in premium meeting, event, flexible office, and membership spaces is seeking a full-time Senior AV Operations Specialist to join our Operations team in London at one of our flagship locations at Sancroft, St. Paul's. The Senior AV Operations Specialist will exemplify a passion for Hospitality, Events, and AV Technology along with being a proponent of cultivating a positive and inclusive employee culture. In this role, the Senior AV Operations Specialist will partner with and report directly to the General Manager as well as the Technology Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and supports all services used to deliver technology to our customers and associates including networking, desktop support, audio, video, HSIA, audio & video conferencing, webcasting, and basic lighting for a variety of corporate meetings and events.
  • Works closely with customers and the AV Management Team to deliver an excellent meeting, conference, and working experience.
  • Works directly with the property and event teams to deliver excellent client experiences.
  • Leads ad-hoc troubleshooting and assistance to customers of all technology competency levels.
  • Troubleshoots AV equipment, including but not limited to audio, video, lighting, computer networking systems, and hardware.
  • Evaluates and troubleshoots personal computer hardware and software, peripheral devices, mobile devices, and network component problems.
  • Leads pre-program coordination with property teams, and the AV Operations Manager, ensuring that all their technological needs are met and in place for their arrival.
  • Provides genuine anticipatory customer service by establishing good working relationships with Convene team members, divisions, and vendors.
  • Audits tech quotes to ensure review is completed ahead of events and attends PEO, Pre-Con, and pre-production meetings as needed.
  • Supervises daily floor operations, manages set up and strike, leads room teams, oversees equipment, and supports other ad hoc AV property functions.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with clients and assists with any reasonable requests during programs.
  • Interacts with the Production team to ensure a thorough understanding of the client experience with Convene prior to the start of their meeting/event.
  • Assists in any areas of daily operation.
  • Participates in collaborative project efforts with both the technology team and other departments.
  • Reviews and recommends updates to departmental SOPs on a quarterly basis.
  • Maintains and upholds Convenes cultural standards.
  • Performs other duties as requested by management.
  • Shows initiative and drive to solve problems.
  • Portrays a polished, professional image according to Convene dress code standards.

Requirements

  • Candidate must currently reside in the UK and be able to work in the UK without sponsorship.
  • High school diploma/GED required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 4-5 years of experience in supporting AV and IT equipment and computer software systems.
  • Customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of audiovisual equipment including analog/digital audio mixers, wireless microphone systems, seamless video switchers, and projectors/displays.
  • Possesses a basic understanding of Crestron and other central control systems.
  • Basic knowledge of data networking principles, architecture, and applications.
  • Experience in the basic installation, configuration, operation and administration of operating systems, applications and hardware for Macs, PCs, LANs, and servers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google worksuite, and Apple iWorks suite of business applications.
  • Flexible, long, and weekend hours are sometimes required.
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects up to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period.
  • Ability to climb and work on a ladder for lengthy periods.

Skills

  • Audio: 4-48 channel analog/digital mixers, wireless microphone lavaliers and handhelds, push-to-talk microphone systems, audio recorders.
  • Video: Switchers, projectors, LCD displays, LED Video Walls.
  • Lighting: Knowledge of Lighting Maps, lighting concepts, and lighting best practices, familiarity with rigging.
  • IT: Wi-Fi troubleshooting, connecting hardline internet, Knowledge of DHCP/Static IP addressing, operating, other collaboration tools and equipment.
  • Hybrid: Familiarity with virtual meeting and event platform functions as well as live streaming technologies including cameras, encoders, lighting, and transmission protocols i.e. RTMPs/HLS/SRT.
  • Control: Familiarity with Crestron control systems and associated hardware.
  • Familiarity with Biamp Server/Forte systems is a plus.
  • Media Server familiarity a plus.
  • Familiarity with AVoIP fundamentals a plus.

Salary/Compensations

  • £38,000-42,000/annually + eligibility for discretionary annual bonus
