About the Role

The Deployment Engineering team is responsible for deploying the PhysicsX platform into customer-owned infrastructure. This is a technically complex, high-stakes process involving customer IT teams, security and compliance, and standing up Kubernetes-based infrastructure. As Field CTO, you will lead the Deployment Engineering team for your region, acting as the primary point of contact for CIOs and CTOs of strategic accounts, building trusted technical partnerships, and leading the team to deliver successful deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical conversations with customer CIOs and CTOs, scoping deployments, resolving escalations, and building trusted relationships.
  • Represent PhysicsX as the senior technical voice in your region.
  • Own the deployment program across accounts, understanding deployment status, identifying blockers, and ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Collaborate with delivery leads to align commercial commitments with deployment realities.
  • Surface risks early and provide ground-level input for scoping and selling deployments.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop deployment engineers in your region.
  • Define team standards, create scalable processes, and foster a culture of technical rigor and customer accountability.
  • Get directly involved in complex deployments, providing senior technical judgment.
  • Shape how PhysicsX delivers platform version upgrades in the field, ensuring reliable upgrades on a customer-friendly cadence.

Requirements

  • A track record of leading technical teams delivering complex infrastructure or platform deployments into enterprise environments.
  • Strong experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Open Stack, RHOS).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tooling (Crossplane, Terraform, Helm) and the OCI ecosystem.
  • Experience navigating enterprise IT organizations, including security reviews, procurement processes, and stakeholder management.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with senior technical executives (CTO, CIO, VP Engineering) at large organizations.
  • Experience hiring and growing technical teams.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and in-person).
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites within your region, and occasionally internationally, for an average of 3–4 weeks per quarter.
  • Experience in regulated or high-security environments is a must.
  • Experience with on-prem / HPC type “scientific” environments is a nice to have.
