About the Role

As a Senior Equipment Technician, you will manage and perform preventative maintenance and repair malfunctioning existing/new manufacturing equipment and support the setup and maintenance of an equipment database/asset management system. You will also ensure that there are sufficient supplies of spare equipment parts/consumables to support production with minimal downtime/disruptions. You will manage and document work orders, respond to equipment requests, and complete routine inspections on equipment. To effectively meet these objectives, you will be responsible for independently managing prioritization of your work orders and calendar of routine tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and/or perform timely diagnosis/calibration/verification/repair of production equipment (including jigs, pipettes, centrifuges, water purification systems, refrigerators, analyzers etc.) internally or with external testing laboratories or contractors
  • Perform internal calibration/IQOQPQ and troubleshooting issues of in-house analyzers of moderate complexity in a timely manner
  • Maintain stock of spare equipment parts and consumables
  • Working knowledge of equipment in regulated environment (ISO9001 and ISO 17025) participate in internal/external audits
  • Perform troubleshooting/minor repairs and/or coordinate for the repairs of malfunctioning facilities equipment including HVAC systems, air filtration units, generators, etc and determine root cause of failures and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Collaborate with manufacturing/process engineers to establish PM strategies and protocol and/or troubleshoot equipment problems and develop solutions and identify opportunities for equipment upgrades and improvements
  • Set up and maintain equipment database and/or life science asset management system; create and maintain equipment-related key performance indicators (KPIs) metrics and track progress over time
  • Provide technical support and lead the training of internal staff on new and existing equipment ensure personnel are following applicable procedure and standards
  • Follow guidelines and comply with all company safety, quality, and training procedures and regulations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant experience, Technical/Associate degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or Undergraduate degree with 1+ year of relevant experience
  • Prior experience with biotechnology equipment is strongly preferred
  • Expertise in complex equipment troubleshooting, problem solving and strong mechanical aptitude
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with computers and working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software tools
  • Experience with setting up and maintaining equipment databases and life science asset management systems
  • Proactive in resolving issues, self-motivated and take initiative in driving continuous improvements
  • Prior experience as EH&S representative or committee a plus
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and optical systems
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools
  • Ability to work flexible/extended hours (evenings/weekends) as needed
  • Work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple different demands
