About the Role

Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on nights. This role offers an excellent opportunity to start a nursing career in a supportive healthcare setting, with opportunities for educational advancement and skills development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN.
  • Monitor patient vital signs, weight, and assist with personal care and activities of daily living.
  • Assist patients with transfers and transport.
  • Perform pulse oximetry and point of care testing.
  • Assist with dressing changes and applying external monitoring devices.
  • Remove urinary Foley catheter.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to an RN.
  • Assist with maintaining clean and orderly patient rooms.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross, or must obtain during new hire period.
  • Nursing students must have Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross prior to hire.
  • Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W), or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered.
  • Proficient in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at an eighth-grade level.
  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
  • Must comply with the influenza prevention program, including annual vaccination or approved exemption.
  • All offers of employment are followed by testing for controlled substances.
