About the Role
N26 is seeking a Credit Risk Senior Associate for its Retail Mortgage team. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing data analytics and process controls for the mortgage portfolio, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and enhancing the global mortgage governance framework.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of N26's mortgage credit risk function, aligning with growth, risk management, and regulatory compliance objectives.
- Enhance N26's global mortgage governance framework, policies, and procedures to align with Dutch, European, and German regulations.
- Support the development and implementation of controls for end-to-end mortgage credit processes, including loan granting, collateral management, monitoring, early warning systems, problem loan management, and loan loss provisioning.
- Design, implement, and operate second-line control frameworks and tools for mortgage processes and the portfolio, including oversight of business activities and third-party providers.
- Develop and maintain a resilient mortgage credit risk database for monitoring, reporting, and loan loss provisioning, focusing on data quality.
- Conduct data analysis and support the development and implementation of IFRS 9 (PD, LGD) and quantitative models for risk indicators.
- Perform risk analyses, assessing the impact of macroeconomic factors on collateral values and portfolio performance.
- Collaborate with various departments (Mortgage Business, Treasury, Finance, Risk, Accounting, Reporting, Tech) to implement credit requirements, ensure transparency, compliance, and foster a risk culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, econometrics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a comparable quantitative field.
- 3+ years of experience in credit risk management, data analytics, process controls, or credit risk methodology development.
- Proven experience in building, implementing, and running credit process controls and oversight frameworks.
- Good understanding of key risk indicators across obligor, collateral, and portfolio levels within the mortgage domain.
- Solid understanding of processes across the entire value chain of mortgage or similar credit products.
- Solid knowledge of European regulations (e.g., EBA), with exposure to Dutch (e.g., THRK) or German (MaRisk, KWG) regulations being advantageous.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
- Solid knowledge of credit risk methodology, including PD/LGD models, debt-servicing ability, and advanced collateral valuation techniques, with an understanding of integrating ESG factors.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
