About the Role

This role provides strategic and tactical business development leadership to advance the Firm’s client engagement strategies in the Behavioral Health Market. You will partner with Market and Client Leaders to position the firm for new business opportunities, develop client and partner relationships, and identify new opportunities to grow the top line. You will also serve as a brand ambassador, demonstrating how Living-Centered Design can help clients achieve enduring success.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on Behavioral Health opportunities within the firm.
  • Coordinate with and support the firm’s national Executive Director of Health for All and the Executive Director of the West Region to ensure business development activities align with overall growth strategies.
  • Engage in business development activities including supporting client pursuits, identifying new clients and opportunities, and external brand activities.
  • Amplify regional vision by developing strategies and action plans to support the advancement of regional convergence hubs.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to Market and Client Leaders in developing new business development opportunities to achieve top line targets, supporting a minimum 10% growth year over year.
  • Personally identify and advance a minimum of $10.0 million in net fee opportunities annually that convert to wins, and personally secure $3.0M NSF/Year.
  • Demonstrate effective pre-positioning and intelligence gathering to identify key issues and potential differentiators in client pursuits.
  • Oversee a pipeline of qualified opportunities that consistently equals or exceeds three times the annual net signed fee of the office.
  • Partner with the Regional Director, Director of BMBD, Market and Service Line Leaders, and other Business Development Leaders to advance the growth of markets, practices, and service lines.
  • Work with Market Leaders, Client Leaders, and the BMBD Team to develop and implement best practices for client pursuit and retention strategies.
  • Lead and support business development activities and identify new potential client leads/opportunities in your region and firm wide.
  • Identify new target clients based upon value propositions and strategic initiatives.
  • Support research and intelligence efforts to guide strategic pursuit plans with target clients.
  • Participate in the annual business planning process with your Regional Director.
  • Ensure the marketing budget is aligned with the business plan and monitor/manage the budget throughout the year.
  • Develop and advance internal and external networks within core markets, practices, and service lines.
  • Attend networking events and conferences, develop local/client and AEC industry relationships, and maintain a diverse regional partner network.
  • Lead new client engagement meetings, bringing together Market and Client Leaders bi-weekly to advance marketing and business development activities.
  • Maintain active watch on pipeline and have a deep understanding of pipeline; drive Vantagepoint use by others to keep information accurate, assess performance, and develop actionable insights.
  • Provide strategic input in all phases of client engagement process and activities, including developing capture plans, ensuring prepositioning activities are completed prior to RFQs/RFPs, and assisting in the development of pursuit approach and implementation of client intelligence in proposals and interviews.
  • Strengthen CannonDesign’s brand in the marketplace and become a champion of Living-Centered Design.
  • Bring the firm’s purpose to life in every touchpoint with clients and partners.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 12 years of related work experience in marketing/business development roles required, with significant experience in the Behavioral Health Market.
  • Experience preferred in the A/E/C industry.
  • Proven experience in the development and implementation of marketing business plans.
  • Proven track record of the ability to develop significant relationships that increase our opportunity pipeline in Behavioral Health.
  • Business acumen and ability to develop, influence, and execute strategy.
  • Communicates authentically and respectfully.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT).
  • Experience with CRM Platforms, such as Salesforce, a plus.
  • Exceptional client and people leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Exceptional writing, presentation/speaking, and team-building skills.
  • Exercise good independent judgment and maintain confidentiality.
