About the Role
The Software Engineer builds, maintains, and supports custom software used by employees, customers, and business partners. This is a full-stack role covering the complete development lifecycle across frontend applications, APIs, backend services, databases, and integrations. AI-assisted engineering is a normal part of how we work, with engineers using AI tools throughout the development process while remaining accountable for the quality, security, and impact of their work.
Responsibilities
- Deliver features end to end, spanning frontend, API, backend services, and database layers.
- Plan before coding by defining expected behavior, affected systems, test needs, and regression risk.
- Build reliable, responsive frontend workflows, forms, and shared components that align with approved designs, including mobile and progressive web app experiences.
- Develop and maintain APIs, backend services, background jobs, and database-driven workflows, including schema changes, stored procedures, and performance-optimized SQL.
- Contribute to integrations with internal systems and third-party services.
- Diagnose and fix defects across all layers (UI, API, service logic, data, background processing) and participate in production support, staged releases, and hotfixes.
- Write automated tests covering expected behavior, edge cases, and regression risk.
- Regularly review teammates' pull requests and provide clear, practical feedback.
- Contribute to platform health through dependency upgrades, refactoring, tooling improvements, and test coverage growth.
- Communicate clearly with engineers, QA, Design, Technology Business Partners, and business stakeholders, and document information for future reference.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of professional experience building and supporting production software, or equivalent experience.
- Strong TypeScript/JavaScript skills and experience with a modern frontend framework such as React or Angular.
- Experience building or maintaining APIs, backend services, and data-driven applications.
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational database design.
- Fluency with Git workflows, pull requests, code review, automated testing, and agile delivery.
- Ability to debug problems that span application layers (UI, API, service logic, database, or background processing).
- Good judgment in balancing delivery speed, maintainability, user experience, and production stability.
- AI fluency: effective, responsible use of AI-assisted development tools, with validation of all produced output.
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical partners.
- Practical interest in solving real business problems with software.
- B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
