About the Role

Whitney Young Health (WYH) provides high-quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare to a diverse community. The physician will function within the primary care group, coordinating medical care, providing supervision, and delivering direct patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provides primary care directly, emphasizing accessibility, health promotion, illness prevention, and continuity of care.
  • Takes complete medical and psychosocial histories.
  • Completes physical examinations and orders diagnostic tests.
  • Determines appropriate plans of care in collaboration with patients.
  • Develops, reviews, and approves clinical protocols and best practice guidelines.
  • Documents all patient encounters completely and in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to adopted clinical practice guidelines.
  • Maintains current medical knowledge through CME programs.
  • Maintains compliance with clinical and regulatory standards, including medical record documentation.
  • Demonstrates appropriate and reassuring interactions with patients.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
  • Supports the implementation of the Chronic Care Model.
  • Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Supports established policies and procedures.
  • Starts patient schedules on time and completes work schedules, including documentation.
  • Completes required documentation for referrals and consultations.
  • Returns patient telephone calls within an appropriate timeframe.
  • Performs other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Demonstrates excellence in customer service.
  • Communicates HIPAA compliance, corporate compliance, and client confidentiality.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Supervises the clinical practice of medical students, residents, and non-physician practitioners.
  • Acts as a resource to staff and the community regarding health trends and issues.
  • Participates in community activities and research to promote health and prevent diseases.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved medical college.
  • Completion of approved residency training.
  • Current NYS license.
  • Board eligible or certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.

Skills

  • Bilingual/Multi-lingual abilities
  • Experience in Community Health
  • Experience in delivering culturally competent healthcare
  • Interest in on-going learning, best practice development, and education

  • $225,000 - $280,000 annually
