About the Role
As a Senior Liability Underwriter within our General Insurance business, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of insurance for our customers and broker partners. You’ll develop close trading relationships with strategic brokers, underwriting new and renewal business, and driving profitable growth in the liability portfolio. Reporting to the NSW State Manager, you’ll collaborate with a high-performing team to deliver underwriting excellence, ensure operational requirements are met, and contribute to Zurich’s broader ambition of transforming the insurance landscape.
Responsibilities
- Evaluating and underwriting liability insurance risks for new and renewal business, ensuring adherence to Zurich’s guidelines and standards.
- Managing and monitoring a portfolio of existing accounts, driving profitable growth and commercial viability.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, customers, and internal stakeholders across NSW/ACT.
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Leading the execution of strategic plans and company initiatives, including Zurich’s Go-To-Market strategy.
- Staying current with industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory requirements to inform underwriting decisions.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in underwriting or broking liability risks, with proven technical capability.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a continuous learning mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and build high-performing teams.
- Sound knowledge of the broker market, underwriting philosophy, and regulatory frameworks.
- Commercial acumen and a customer-centric approach, with the ability to drive market-facing activity and deliver business objectives.
