About the Role

The Bureau of School Health is seeking a full stack developer to develop and support data exchange initiatives with external clinical partners. This development will be from the ground up, and the developer will be a member of the MIS team. This role involves collaborating with the project manager, peer developers, database administrator, and data analyst to develop data exchange solutions, monitor data collection, support program evaluation, and assist with reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Create data processes to map external received data to internal system.
  • Create job schedules on bi-directional data exchanges.
  • Work with multiple external data partners to implement shared or custom data exchange solutions.
  • Create application view for nurse users to view received data.
  • Implement a variety of data exchange solutions such as restful API or sFTP transfers.
  • Monitor data quality and work closely with program staff to refine data collection.
  • Contribute to the planning, development, and implementation of program evaluation and research activities.
  • Assist in documenting the system specifications and topology with the project manager.
  • Collaborate with project manager and Database administrator to architect systems.
  • Collaborate with external technical units and troubleshoot technical solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and mission of the department/organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with full stack development.
  • 3+ years of experience with DOT.NET C# and Visual Studio preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience working with SQL server, SSIS, Stored Procedures preferred.
  • Experience with Restful API and web protocols.
  • Experience working with HL7, FHIR or data exchange protocols.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience working with health-related data systems.
  • Other data processing languages such as Python is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills on specifications, business rules and project related communication.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
  • Must live in the New York City Tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT).

Salary/Compensations

  • $80,000- $123,000 annually
