About the Role
This project consulting role is challenging and rewarding, requiring a proactive individual and critical thinker eager to gain technical expertise and develop a strong understanding of the Building Code. You will perform code consulting, review design documentation, and coordinate with clients and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with applicable building and fire codes, working closely with senior consultants.
Responsibilities
- Review building designs and apply relevant Building and Fire Code to new and renovation projects.
- Conduct code analysis reports and provide alternative design solutions.
- Collaborate with project teams, consultants, clients, and contractors.
- Manage assigned projects from start to finish and serve as the client point of contact.
- Collaborate with project administrators for smooth project management and timely invoicing.
- Attend meetings with clients, stakeholders, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
- Provide input for project proposals.
- Assist with project billings.
- Engage in professional development by attending industry conferences, training sessions, and webinars.
- Participate in business development initiatives and identify business opportunities.
Requirements
- 5-10 years of experience in building and fire code consulting, or a related field.
- Strong technical report writing, communication, and technical skills.
- Thorough knowledge of building and fire codes (NBC, NFC, OBC, OFC) and industry standards (NFPA, CAN/ULC, CSA).
- Ability to work on and support multiple projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive and collaborative relationships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and Bluebeam or other relevant software.
