About the Role

Seeking a creative, professional, and self-motivated leader to make an immediate impact in an expanding Engineering Department. This role reports to the Engineering Manager and focuses on product research and development, enhancement, customization, testing, and support. The ideal candidate will possess excellent technical skills to serve as a subject matter expert in electro-mechanical solutions and be capable of adapting to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, working both independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills are essential for internal and external interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical leader in the development of electro-mechanical solutions with various structural, cosmetic, and innovative mechanism-related challenges.
  • Collaborate with management to achieve departmental and business goals, providing input on the technical direction for projects, the department, and the business.
  • Lead design, development, and product validation efforts for new products and modifications to existing ones.
  • Provide key technical insight in problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
  • Produce and/or supervise the production of professional engineering documentation, including specifications, assembly drawings, installation drawings, service pages, and test specifications.
  • Perform classical and professional engineering analysis (stress and tolerance) to validate design reliability.
  • Define, generate, and review project requirements such as test specifications, engineering specifications, design review assessments, schedules, and budgets.
  • Investigate new or existing technologies for effective application within the business's markets.
  • Analyze field failures and production concerns for root-cause analysis to improve product manufacturability and performance.
  • Initiate and perform lab testing of competitive products, highlighting differences, strengths, and weaknesses.
  • Assist management and legal counsel in protecting the company’s intellectual property.
  • Develop and maintain budgets and schedules for projects or project phases.
  • Support Marketing and Communications in creating product literature.
  • Potentially supervise and/or coordinate the work activities of subordinates.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor for less experienced associates in the Engineering Department.

Requirements

  • BSME required, MSME preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant technical experience.
  • Creative, out-of-the-box thinker and problem-solver, current on state-of-the-art technology.
  • Self-motivated, professional, and positive leader who works well independently and in group/team activities.
  • Expertise in designing solutions fabricated using plastic injection molding, extrusions, sheet metal fabrication, or machining operations.
  • Professional knowledge and experience applying 3D drafting and modeling software.
  • Working knowledge with AutoCAD.
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills with demonstrated ability to work successfully under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Up to 10% annual bonus
