About the Role
Partnering with governments, civil society, foundations, academia, and the private sector, this role works on critical issues including national security, social justice, and conflict prevention. The division provides fully integrated, end-to-end services combining multi-discipline communications teams with subject matter experts globally.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze the politics, media, and information environments of Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus, with a focus on the Western Balkans.
- Act as an in-house source on the region’s politics, culture, and information space, utilizing media monitoring and social listening tools.
- Produce timely and relevant analyses, briefings, and strategic recommendations verbally and in writing for various agency levels.
- Provide insight to support the development of communications strategies and respond to ad hoc research requests.
- Develop an understanding of regional strategy and project objectives, informing and guiding them.
- Support other assigned analysts as required.
- Conduct desk-based research.
Requirements
- Degree in International Relations, War Studies, Russian and Eastern European Studies, or a related subject with a regional/geopolitical focus.
- Interest in or previous experience working on Eastern Europe, the Western Balkans, or South Caucasus.
- Excellent analytical skills, particularly familiarity with qualitative and quantitative social science data.
- Excellent writing and good presentation skills.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of tools.
Skills
- Fluency or business proficiency in Russian or other Eastern European languages.
- Experience using monitoring or social listening tools.
- Practical experience of working with qualitative and quantitative social science data.
- Practical experience of Structured Analytical Techniques and their application in open-source research and analysis.
- Knowledge of the Python programming language.
