About the Role

Mastercard's International, Open Banking, Product Value Proposition Team is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to develop and advance data-driven open banking solutions. This role focuses on applying data science techniques to create market-leading analytical solutions, particularly in affordability/credit decisioning and identity/income verification use cases, to empower consumers and drive client value.

Responsibilities

  • Apply data science techniques to large datasets from development to deployment support for market-leading solutions and insights.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and developers to build and deploy interactive dashboards with engaging insights and UX for clients.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to understand and meet their requirements.
  • Conduct customer trials to grow open banking impact, supporting data specification, analysis, and result presentation.
  • Proactively pursue product excellence by investigating new data sources, encouraging cross-team collaboration, managing projects, and utilizing new tools and techniques.
  • Develop and implement team methods for rapid prototyping, reproducibility, productivity, automation, and data governance.
  • Engage with the wider Mastercard data science community to share best practices, knowledge, and insights.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Econometrics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a similar field.
  • Multi-project, hands-on experience in the end-to-end data science process with large, complex data, from problem framing to results communication and solution deployment.
  • Real-world experience developing and deploying interactive dashboards using Plotly's Dash framework.
  • Workplace Python coding experience, including a strong knowledge of the principal Python Data Science/Machine Learning (ML) library ecosystem.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated engagement through collaboration, teamwork, independent work, and professional development.
  • Commercial experience successfully utilizing time series and natural language processing (NLP) methods, particularly topic modeling and named entity recognition.
  • Good working knowledge of supervised and un-supervised ML techniques.
  • Practical knowledge/experience of solution deployment, including data science pipelines, MLOps frameworks, and libraries.
  • Experience working in financial services related to consumer and/or business lending.

Salary/Compensations

  • $115,000 - $184,000 USD
