About the Role

As a Systems Engineer, you will support end users, maintain facility infrastructure, ensure production operations equipment and workflows run smoothly, and collaborate with global IT colleagues on shared projects. This role requires strong technical skills, clear communication, and effective collaboration with operations and production teams, serving as their primary IT contact.

Responsibilities

  • Manage physical and virtual systems, and storage across the facility.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues end-to-end.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux (RHEL derivatives), Windows servers, and Windows/OSX workstations.
  • Troubleshoot networking issues and collaborate with network engineers.
  • Serve as remote hands for the network team as needed.
  • Document recurring issues and procedures for the wider support team.
  • Rack, cable, install, move, and configure server room equipment.
  • Partner with Production and Operations teams on change management and issue resolution.
  • Ensure technical security and compliance requirements are met and maintained.
  • Collaborate with global Technology team members on cross-regional projects.
  • Assist remotely with after-hours and holiday support for the global team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, MIS, or equivalent work experience in supporting post-production workflows.
  • Minimum 3 years of related IT experience.
  • Prior experience managing virtual server environments (VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V).
  • Experience managing a shared storage solution (scale-out NAS or SAN).
  • Working experience administering Linux servers (basic to intermediate).
  • Working experience administering Windows servers and workstations (intermediate or more).
  • Comfortable with Active Directory and M365.
  • Understanding of networking concepts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Native level Japanese communication skills.
  • Business level English communication skills.
  • Prior experience in post-production, broadcast, VFX, or another media/creative environment.
  • Industry certifications related to Technology or Cybersecurity focus areas.
  • Scripting experience to help streamline tasks.
  • Experience managing public cloud resources and services.
  • Any prior experience facilitating media and entertainment compliance audits.
  • Must be eligible to work in Japan.
