About the Role
The Medical Advisor holds primary responsibility within the country for the development and execution of the Country Medical Affairs Plans (CMAP) in his/her responsible therapeutic areas under the guidance and supervision of the Executive Director. This role involves developing and executing medical strategy, collecting and analyzing scientific insights, engaging in scientific exchange, and developing medical education programs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute assigned Therapeutic Area/Product CMAP in alignment with franchise strategy
- Maintain up-to-date expertise on an ongoing basis through internal and external academic opportunities
- Lead CMAP implementation with Medical Science Liaison (MSL) / Scientific Contents (SC) / Medical Information (MI) from scientific and medical perspectives
- Continuously provide information/opinions on the planning and implementation of global medical strategy
- Overview Field Engagement Plan regarding field medical activities, and scientific Insight collection activities by MSLs
- Strategically/systematically collect scientific insight useful for Global plan/CMAP from clinical and basic research experts
- Analyze multifaceted scientific insights and discuss them with Global/ Local team
- Participate in peer-to-peer scientific exchange with scientific leaders (SLs) and other external stakeholders to foster cooperative relationships in research/education to resolve issues
- Organize and lead Advisory board meeting and other medical programs to incorporate opinions from clinical and basic science experts opinions into medical strategy
- Collaborate with Global/Regional team to conduct global activities
- Identify unmet educational medical needs, and develop and execute country medical educational programs in alignment with franchise strategy
- Collect, analyze, and provide the medical information of early pipeline products to stakeholders on demand
- Provide strategic inputs on the early pipeline products from medical perspectives on demand
Requirements
- 5 years or more of clinical/research experience in the healthcare field
- Knowledge of regulations related to pharmaceutical companies in Japan, insurance reimbursement systems, and clinical research guidelines
- Experience publishing papers in academic journals (peer-reviewed) or presenting at academic conferences
- 5 years or more of clinical experience as a physician
- Ability to understand and comply with various compliance rules and codes of the industry and region (Japan)
- Leadership in leading teams for the assigned disease area
