About the Role

As a Stationary Engineer, you will operate, maintain, and monitor building mechanical systems, ensuring optimal performance and safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient operations for tenants and occupants.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and repair boilers, heaters, pumps, valves, and related equipment for steam and hot water distribution.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair refrigeration compressors, condensers, evaporators, and associated systems, including air conditioning.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair pumps for secondary refrigerating liquids, including water.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair air compressors and distribution systems.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair natural and manufactured gas distribution lines and control systems.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair water filters, softeners, piping, and associated equipment.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair electrical motors and engines powering pumps, compressors, generators, and fans.
  • Maintain elevators, man lifts, escalators, and hoist ways, if licensed.
  • Perform electrical and control systems work, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of motor controls and VFDs.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair fuel oil systems.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair building automation systems for HVAC, lighting, and other controlled mediums.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair sanitary sewer systems, sump pumps, grease traps, and fixtures, including clearing blockages.
  • Maintain and repair trash/recycling/composting/baling compactors.
  • Maintain and repair kitchen equipment (excluding tenant-owned).
  • Operate, maintain, and repair life safety related equipment and support testing.
  • Manage inventory control for parts and materials.
  • Maintain equipment rooms and the equipment within them.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Stationary Engineer License (Class 1, 2, or 3 depending on facility requirements).
  • 3+ years of experience operating and maintaining commercial building mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, electrical systems, and building automation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical ability to work in mechanical rooms, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of OSHA safety regulations and environmental compliance.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
