About the Role
The NI ADG Customer Centric Solutions Team seeks an experienced Senior Software Test Engineer to work on custom engineering opportunities that enable the sale of standard NI Products. This role involves defining, documenting, designing, deploying, and sustaining NI products tailored to specific customer requirements for large-scale turnkey engineering solutions. The ideal candidate possesses experience and knowledge of NI products and system-level design.
Responsibilities
- Developing instrument drivers, test sequences, and applications using LabVIEW and TestStand for a wide range of NI and third-party test equipment.
- Interfacing with Systems Architects and Electrical Engineering teams to provide strategic design implementation guidance for testability.
- Providing handoff and direct support of software test applications to customer engineering teams, including developing necessary documentation.
- Interacting with NI customers, NI staff, external alliance partners, and suppliers to support design, implementation, and sustainment of custom solutions.
- Defining and implementing system test plans, managing milestones, and holding reviews to ensure systems meet requirements and are ready for deployment.
- Verifying developed tests for compliance with and coverage of requirements.
- Traveling domestically and abroad as needed to support project objectives.
Requirements
- B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- 5+ years of experience developing test software using LabVIEW/TestStand.
- Experience developing automated test software using PXI chassis and interfacing with analog I/O cards, digital I/O cards, DMMs, oscilloscopes, National Instrument’s switching and signal routing systems, data acquisition devices, power supplies, RF analyzers, and RF power sensors.
- Knowledge of hardware interfaces such as GPIB, USB, Ethernet, and serial communication protocols.
- Understanding of high-level programming languages (LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++/C#, Python).
- Strong work ethic and drive to succeed.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural group development environment.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve effectively, diagnose technical issues, and propose reasonable solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, be a self-starter, and work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn applicable technology, systems, and products.
- Must have access to export-controlled technical data and be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual as defined by 22 CFR §120) due to ITAR regulations.
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
